A very easy recipe for delicious and inexpensive spaghetti sauce.
Ingredients
- 2 or 3 Bay Leaves
- Oregano flakes
- One (1) 5.5 ounce can of Tomato Paste
- Small Chopped onion (half a cup) Optional to taste
- Salt, or Food Seasoning
Method
- In a cup, place 2 or 3 dried Bay Leaves and fill cup with boiling water.
- Let stand for an hour or more, stirring occasionally. This will make a thin "tea" solution from the Bay Leaves.
- In a medium saucepan, put one 5.5-ounce can of concentrated tomato paste, and over low heat gradually add portions of the Bay Leaf "tea", stirring to bring it to a desired consistency.
- Add some chopped onion, Oregano flakes and salt to taste.
- Stir until blended and it is ready.
Use as you would for ordinary spaghetti sauce from a jar. This recipe is much cheaper than store-bought jars of spaghetti sauce, tastier and more savory.
Can be used in place of jar sauce for spaghetti, lasagna, baked ricotta shells or any recipe that requires spaghetti sauce. Enjoy!
