Black pepper is what gives this salad an extra zing. I use McCormick pure ground black pepper. It's also perfectly fine not to add black pepper.
Ingredients
- 2 cucumbers (peeling is optional)
- 1 small tomato (thinly sliced or minced)
- 1 small onion (thinly sliced or minced)
- 1 small ginger root (thinly sliced or minced)
- 5 tbsp vinegar
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp pure ground black pepper
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ cup water
Method
- Slice cucumber into 1/8th inch thick and put in a shallow bowl or salad dish.
- In a cup or small bowl, dissolve salt and sugar in water and vinegar.
- Add the tomatoes, onions and ginger.
- Pour unto the cucumber slices
- Sprinkle the ground black pepper and serve.
(Add more salt and/or vinegar if you want more sourness and sugar if you want it sweeter)
