Quick Hash Brown and Cheese Casserole

A time-saving recipe for the taste of scalloped potatoes, without the work.

If you like scalloped potatoes, why spend time washing, peeling, and slicing potatoes, when you can use hash browns instead? This casserole whips up quickly and is a tasty addition to mealtime.

  1. Grease a 9 x 12 cake pan
  2. Drop in one bag of hash browns
  3. Add 1 cup of chopped or sliced onions

White Sauce

  • 3 tbsp. butter
  • 3 tbsp. flour
  • 2 cups milk

Melt the butter and whisk in the flour. Add the milk, bring to a gentle simmer and stir until white sauce is thickened.

Add

  • paprika
  • seasoning salt
  • salt and pepper
  • onion powder

Add seasonings (to taste) and stir in 1 cup of grated cheddar cheese, until melted. Pour sauce over hash browns and top with another cup of cheese.

Bake uncovered at 325 degrees until browned and crispy.

Additional Ingredients

  • Precooked and crumbled bacon can also be added 10 minutes before removing potatoes from the oven
