Macaroni and Cheese Casserole

This delicious Southern dish is requested at all family functions and will soon be a favorite dish in your household too! Delicious flavors mingle together with this twist on regular Mac and cheese. Pairs nicely with fried chicken or other comfort foods.

Ingredients:

  • 16oz box of macaroni
  • 4 c. shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 eggs, well beaten
  • 2 ½ c. milk
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • butter

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees and prepare macaroni according to package directions.
  • Mix beaten eggs with milk and set aside.
  • Drain macaroni and place in 9x13 pan.
  • Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Drop bits of butter all over top of cheese.
  • Shake pepper and salt over the butter and cheese.
  • Pour milk mixture over cheese and put in oven.
  • Cook approximately 30 minutes, check to be sure it is thoroughly cooked.
  • When golden brown and bubbly around edges, it should be done. Do not over cook.

Variations:

This recipe is best with extra sharp cheddar cheese if you can find it.

My sister makes this dish. It is SO yummy! It's a great take on the regular old mac and cheese.
