Italian Pie

Have you ever found a recipe that you just can't get enough of? This is a recipe that I found years ago and thought of sharing. Please let me know what you think!

Ingredients

  • 1 Pie crust
  • 2 small zucchini squash sliced
  • 2 tomatoes sliced
  • 1 Package of small white mushrooms
  • 1 Package of Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 Package of taco seasoning
  • 1 Pound of ground beef  93 % lean

Method

  1. In a fry pan cook the ground beef until there is no pink in the meat, add the packet of taco seasoning into the
  2. meat, stir well. ( I like spicy foods so I add about 1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes to the mix for heat)
  3. Slice all of the above vegetables, but keep them separate
  4. In a large pie plate add the crust to the bottom of the dish.
  5. Add the ground beef mixture, then arrange the zucchini squash in a single layer over the meat.
  6. The the mushroom slices go on top of the squash.
  7. Add 1/2 of the cheese on top of the mushrooms.
  8. The the tomatoes go single layered on top of the cheese.
  9. Finally add the rest of the cheese on top of the tomatoes.
  10. Bake in a 300 degree oven for 45 minutes, pop out of oven let set for a few minutes then cut into slices like a
  11. pie, plate and enjoy.
