Poor Man Beef Tips

Nice quickie Recipe.

Ok folks, Welcome back to Mary Contrary's Kitchen! This recipe is one of my favorite recipe culminations! Cheap, easy, and versatile! So off we go to get started with this really simple recipe! Happy cooking and remember to wash those hands when handling food, especially raw meats!

Tip: Use separate cutting boards for meats and vegetables, so you don't cross contaminate. To make this easier, I use different colored ones. Green for veggies, white for breads, blue for meats only.

Poor Man Beef Tips

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. 93/7 Hamburger

  • 2 Tbls. EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil)

  • 1 tsp. Chopped Garlic (I use the kind from the jar)

  • ¼ - ½ cup chopped onion

  • 2 Packages McCormick's Brown Gravy Mix (or your favorite brand) - end product should equal 4 cups gravy

  • 4 Cups Instant Rice

Method

Prepare rice as directed on box. Sauté' garlic and onion in 2 tbls. EVOO until nice and bronze. Do not burn edges! Add your Hamburger and cook until nice and brown. Lightly salt and pepper. Keep in mind the gravy will be salty so don't over salt the meat. You just want to put enough to seal the flavor in your meat. While your meat and rice is cooking prepare your gravy as per the instructions on the packet. Once your gravy and meat is ready, combine them. Viola'! Your Poor Man beef tips, to serve over your rice that should be hot and ready! Serves 4-6 Total Cook time about 15 minutes!

Extra Tip: If you have extra tips & sauce left over, use this as a base stock for Barbara's Hamburger Soup!

Sounds good but here in UK we don't have McCormicks so I guess we would use Bisto Gravy Granules.
