Instant Savory Pie

The tiny cubes of bread on top make this dish a garnish as well as an accompaniment.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams minced meat ;
  • Cup uncooked rice ;
  • 1 Cup tomato puree ;
  • 1 Onion, chopped ;
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 40 grams butter ;
  • 4 slices of bread, buttered and cut into cubes

Preparation

  1. Fry the onion in the butter.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients except the bread cubes.
  3. Mix well and bring it to the boil.
  4. Simmer for about ½ an hour and spread the mixture in a flat greased dish.
  5. Sprinkle the prepared bread on top and bake for 15 minutes at 3250 F/1600 C.
  6. Grill for a further 5 minutes till the top is crisp..
