An Easy Dinner: Roasting a Whole Chicken

This type of meal is very easy to prepare and takes very little time. It is the perfect item to cook if you have little things in your home you have to do.

A very easy dinner to prepare you will find is cooking the whole chicken. True, you can very easily go to the supermarket and buy a premade chicken prepared for you, but trust me, those chickens are not as tender and as juicy as preparing the chicken yourself. Those chickens often spend many hours underneath the heaters before they are removed, then you have to reheat the chicken yourself and dry it out more.

The ones with the most flavors are the ones you marinade. Depending on the size of your chicken, they will not take longer than an hour to two hours to roast in the oven. You may also stuff one if you like.

The one thing you may find is that the recipe may call for a 3-lb or 4-lb chicken. You will have to settle with the chicken weight you find in the supermarket, then just the cooking time to suit your needs. Make sure you cook the chicken thoroughly because you do not want salmonella poisoning.

The chicken in the photo is Chicken Stuffed with Potatoes and Green Olives from the Frugal Gourmet Cookbook. It did not long take long to stuff, although the stuffing also added to the cooking time.

You will find that if you are marinating the chicken you may just have to get up and turn the chicken every occasionally. Except for checking the chicken to see if it is ready, the only other thing you may be doing is basting the chicken while it is cooking. This type of meal leaves you a lot of time to do other things in the house while in preparation of dinner.
