Chocolate Brownie Recipe

This is the recipe to cook your own chocolate brownies, and should take approx 45 minutes to complete.

These will take you about 45 minutes

You will need:

  • 270g Plain Chocolate
  • 170g Plain Flour
  • 320g Caster Sugar
  • 4 Large Eggs
  • 270g Butter (preferably unsalted)
  • 80g Milk chocolate chunks
  • 80g white chocolate chunks
  • 80g walnuts or pecan nuts broken into pieces and lightly toasted
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence

Here's what to do:

1.) Preheat your oven to 180c or a gas mark 4.

2.) Line a 12 inch x 8 inch x 1 - 11/2 inch deep baking tin with greaseproof paper and lightly butter.

3.) Melt the plain chocolate in a large bowl placed over a pan of boiling water, or alternatively use a microwave, checking the chocolate every 15 seconds to ensure not to overheat.

4.) In a separate bowl, sieve the flour and the baking powder to ensure there are no lumps.

5.) Take your melted chocolate off the pan of boiling water (or out of the microwave) and slowly stir in the sugar, followed by the eggs and vanilla essence.

6.) Next, gently stir in the flour, chunks of chocolate, and nuts. Ensure it has all been mixed thoroughly.

7.) Pour out the mixture into the baking tin. Bake for approx 25 mins. The cooked brownies should be firm to the touch with a little give inside.

8.) When cooled, remove from the tin and cut into required sized pieces. Place in an airtight container to store.
