Steamed Sponge Cake Recipe

Steamed Sponge Cake Recipe. Simple and smooth cake. Perfect for hot tea in the evening.

Steamed Sponge Cake (Makes 30 pieces. 1 serving =30g)

Ingredients

  • 360 g (3 cups) self-raising wheat flour, sifted
  • 300 g (I 1/4 cups) castor sugar
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla essence

Method

  1. Beat eggs one at a time into a mixing bowl
  2. Slowly mix in sugar and beat until fluffy
  3. Sift wheat flour into the batter and mix well
  4. Add vanilla essence
  5. Pour batter into a cake mould lined with greaseproof paper
  6. Steam for 20 - 30 minutes
  7. Insert skewer to test if cake is ready
