Ingredients:
- 1 cup raisins ½ cup currants
- ½ cup milk ¼ cup grated orange peel
- 2 ¼ cups flour ¼ cup chopped almonds
- ¾ cup sugar ¾ cup butter
- 3 eggs 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt 12 almonds split
Method:
- Add baking powder and salt to flour.
- Whip butter and beat in sugar.
- Add eggs one at a time and beat after each egg.
- Add to flour alternating with milk.
- Stir.
- Fold in chopped raisins, currants, orange peel and nuts.
- Turn into prepared greased and floured round pan lined on bottom with waxed paper.
- Take a piece of wax paper to fit the top of a nine inch round pan, press into pan, with a sharp knife go around paper.
- Leave middle and throw out sides.
- Decorate top of cake with split almonds.
- Bake in preheated 325* oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
- Cake should be shrinking from sides of pan.
- Cool before removing from pan.
