Thanksgiving is just around the corner and you’re either really excited about the traditional desserts, or really bummed about it. I know that we all normally gather around the table drooling over the turkey, stuffing, yams, roll, mashed potatoes and gravy, and with good reason. They are all extremely delicious. Normally the center of attention on the food table is the wonderful turkey that you’ve been smelling in the oven all day. This year I propose that we switch that up. This year dessert should be the center of attention for everyone and not just the kids table. You might want to phone ahead to your Uncle Al to leave room or wear sweat pants so he’ll have room for this totally awesome holiday dessert.

How to make an incredibly good pumpkin flavor and pumpkin shaped cake this holiday season. Its a lot easier than you’d think. Pick out any flavor cake mix, since this is Thanksgiving I suggest that you go with pumpkin, but again, chose any you like. Pick up 3 cans of white frosting, food coloring, and an ice cream cone. Follow the instructions on the package to mix the batter, instead of using a pan, use an oven safe glass or ceramic bowl. Make sure that the bowl is round and not funnel shaped! This is very important for the shape of the pumpkin. Pour the batter into the bowl, throw it into the oven for the suggested time on the package, *remember oven times vary adjust it as needed and for high altitude. After baking while the cake is cooling take the frosting out of the container and put it into a bowl with the food coloring. Now, you want it to be a light to medium orange, follow the drop numbers on the package for dying eggs. If you use the directions for baked goods it will be far too light. Now that the cake is cool take it out of the bowl and being to frost it. Once the cake is frosted plant the ice cream cone on top and you’ll have a wonderful pumpkin shaped dessert!
