Nannie's Butter Cream Icing |

Recipe for butter cream icing, circa 1910. |
Ingredients:-
1 lb. Powdered sugar (maybe a little more)
-
42 oz. Shortening (Crisco is best)
-
24 oz. Milk
-
Pinch of salt
-
Vanilla to taste
Method:- Put shortening in bowl, then sugar, salt and milk.
- Mix a little, then add vanilla.
- For a creamier icing add 2 tsp.
- Cornstarch, which will help hold its consistency.
