Ingredients
- 1 cup Mayonnaise
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Method
- Cream sugar and mayonnaise
- Combine flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Add to mayonnaise mixture.
- Combine cocoa with boiling water. Gradually add to other mixture. Add vanilla.
- Pour into well-greased 9x9 pan or two round cake pans (9x13 spreads too thin!)
- Bake at 325 degrees for about 45 minutes; until cake leaves side of pan or toothpick comes out clean when inserted. Make sure center of cake is done.
Hint: Put a layer of waxed or parchment paper on bottom of pan so cake does not stick.
