Butter Pound Cake Recipe

This is a family favorite for the holidays.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 6 eggs
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 325F. In a medium bowl, sift flour, salt, and baking soda. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cream butter with sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Stir
  3. In vanilla. Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk to butter mixture, beginning
  4. And ending with flour mixture, mixing well. Pour batter into a greased tube pan.
  5. Bake 90 minutes or until toothpick inserted into cake comes out clean
