Grits and Green Onion Bake |

Grits are not just for breakfast. |
Ingredients- 2 c. water

1/2 c. enriched white hominy quick grits

1/4 tsp. salt (optional)

1 c. (4 oz.) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

1/3 c. sliced green onions
-
1/4 c. margarine or butter
-
1 egg, beaten
- 1/8 tsp. liquid red pepper sauce
Method-
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Grease 1-quart casserole.

Bring water to a boil in heavy saucepan; stir in grits and salt.
- Return to a boil; reduce heat.
- Cook, uncovered, 2 to 4 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in remaining ingredients; continue cooking over low heat until cheese is melted.

Pour into prepared casserole.
- Bake 30 minutes.
Serves 4. |
