Easy Gougere |

This will satisfy any hungry palate. |
Ingredients- 80 grams butter
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup plain flour, sifted
- 4 eggs
- ½ cup cheese, grated
Method
- Bring butter and water to boil in a pan.
- Keep stirring till the butter is melted.
- Add the flour all at once and stir well till the mixture leaves the side of the pan.
- Take the pan off the heat and add eggs one at a time.
- Beat well with a beater and stir in the cheese.
- In a large round greased pan, spoon the pastry around and up the sides of the pan leaving a hollow in the centre.
- Bake in a hot oven till the pastry is browned and puffed.
- Remove from the oven and fill the hollow with the filling and bake for another 5 minutes.
Filling - Heat the butter and cook the garlic and shallots till soft.
- Stir in the flour and add the milk gradually.
- Add the chicken stock powder and water.
- Heat till the mixture thickens.
- Stir the chicken, mushrooms and the cheese.
- Fill up the pastry with this filling as a specified above.
