An all around useful ingredient in many delicious meals.
ingredients
- Milk (about 1/2 Gallon)
- 2 TBL butter
- 2 TBL Corn Starch
- salt & pepper
Step 1
In A large Pot Melt 2 TBL Butter on medium heat.
Step 2
Add 2 TBL Corn Starch to melted butter. Stir with wire whisp.
It will become pasty almost instantly.
Stir Constantly to keep the milk from scorching.
Step 3
Quickly add about 1/2 C of milk and stir with wire whips.
It will thicken fast. Stir constantly.
Let thicken some before adding milk.
Step 4
Add milk to it in small amounts. It will thicken slower now.
Let the Sauce thicken well before adding small amounts of milk.
If you have arrived at it's thickest point,
it will not continue to thicken on the heat but stay one consistency.
At some point you will achieve the thickness you desire.
Step 5
At this point the white sauce is ready. Add any special items to spice it up.
tips for white sauce meals
Cream Tuna On Toast
add cans of drained tuna, peas, salt and pepper to white sauce. Eat over toast.
Chicken Casserole
add cooked chicken strips and cooked favorite fresh veggies. Bake with biscuits on top.
Sausage Biscuits & Gravy
add ground pork sausage to white sauce. Serve over biscuits with eggs
Cream of Potato Soup
Add cooked diced potatoes to the white sauce. Add salt and pepper to flavor.
